Helpless Sacks of Sand

It's a bit ironic that I'm sharing a post by Tim Challies today about sleep and the theology behind it. It's ironic because I've basically been awake since the wee hours of the morning—not by choice. I am not an early bird. But for reasons that vary, sleep escapes me many nights.
Many times it's because I don't deal with things in a timely manner. I wake, and my mind inevitably races as I think about those very things. Other times, it's because of varying health-related issues. Some of which I could probably remedy.
But sometimes I have neither problem; I close my eyes, but my brain simply refuses to sleep. It's a very strange phenomenon.
Thankfully (?), I'm not alone. In this post, author and blogger Tim Challies admits his own struggle in this regard.
It's amazing that there really is a theology to everything, including sleep. But that gives us hope, guidance, and meaning, even for something so simple as being unconscious for a few hours.
I hope you find this post encouraging. And that it will help you better understand your need for sleep—and why that matters.
