What's in a Name?

Well, Kingdom First Photography is now Upward Focus.

I had been contemplating a name change for quite a while, as I felt the former name was confusing. I mean, why is this landscape photographer posting about the Bible and mental health and foster care? I can understand the confusion. Photography and Scripture have been a major part of my life. This was always meant to be a place where they join. Even so, I felt a name change was in order before this thing could really move forward.

While photography is still a major part of this endeavor, it isn't the primary or sole aspect; God's word is, and how it applies to our lives. The name change aims to keep the focus (pun intended) on this website's new direction. Photography is just a major tool I want to use in telling the story.

The idea is simple: our focus (Colossians 3:1-2, also a photographic term) should be upward (that is, we should keep our focus on Christ, Hebrews 12:2).

So, I hope the name change will better reflect my mission: to help us trust God more, so that we take Him at His word.

To carry that out, I want to continue writing blogs, sharing stories about God and His creation, and how we can apply His word to practical areas of life. I also hope to share videos and podcasts speaking to these same topics. And of course, I want to continue to share landscape and wildlife images with you. How all that will look is still up in the air; I need God's leading and help.

What I sincerely ask of you is that you please pray for me, as I want this to be done for God's glory, not my own. I'm imperfect and frail, but He is strong and perfect. I trust He will use this.
