Forgetting Something Important

I went to Shenandoah National Park today. The plan was to do a video as well as, hopefully, get a photo or two.

Well, while we've had pretty consistent storms and rain, unfortunately it hasn't been enough for the waterfalls.

Even with low water, I would have had a chance to get something.

But I was missing something really important: a polarized filter.

A lot of people have polarized glasses. They remove glares and reflections, making visibility a bit easier.

Well, a polarizer filter works in a similar way, removing glare, which when it's rainy and wet (waterfalls tend to be wet) is a big help. Without it, there can be lots of shiny spots in the scene which is very distracting. These filters also help to bring out the greens of the leaves and vegetation, also a nice feature.

So, while I could've figured something out, when I found out it was missing I was a bit disheartened. Especially since I was trying to do a potential video on how to be a better photographer. Lesson 1: make sure you have your stuff.

With tomorrow being Sunday, might I suggest that all of us not forget something a lot more important than a filter?

I don't want to be legalistic, I just think that it is it utmost benefit to bring your Bible if you're able.

Especially in the United States, we really have no reason not to.

Sure, phones are convenient, but it's not the same. There's something about having a real Bible with real pages that you really have to turn. You can learn it, memorize it, read it without the distractions of your phone, etc.

So, don't be like me and forget something really important when you need it. Bring your Bible tomorrow to church. Just a though.
