Cease Striving

Well, I just got back from a short trip to West Virginia. I went there to photograph fall color, and it didn't disappoint.

While I probably did more photography over the last three or so days than I do most the rest of the year, the downside is that I didn't really take time to slow down.

While the verse is most likely used slightly out of context (and I sort of am here as well, but I think it is an applicable truth), Psalm 46:10 tells us:

"'Cease striving and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in all the earth.'"

Those moments of being still can get lost very easily. But they're very important. Why we think we can go so long without time with God, I'll never understand (even with myself). Jesus certainly recognized the need, as He often went to places to be alone with His Father. We're not stronger than He.

And even as we struggle to be still and to cease striving, God is still God, and He will be exalted. Let us join in worship of Him .
