Themes and God's Glory

If you've followed me for any time, you've likely noticed some recurring themes. From nostalgia to getting back on track, showing up when others might not, or just taking the next step because you can't see past it, these are common themes for me as I continue this venture.

But they're themes that are important for all of us, quite frankly.

I suppose nostalgia can be important in helping us remember our purpose. Sometimes we do have to take a step back, look at the big picture, reorient, and get back on track. And there are times when we all have to show up and do the work, even if we aren't sure what it might look like in a year or ten.

I hope that even as the themes repeat, discussing it will be a helpful reminder to you that, whatever it is God is calling you towards, seek it as best you can, by His strength. And do it heartily, as unto the Lord.

You see, I think it can be summed up like this: We shouldn't do things half-heartedly, because we're to do everything for God's glory.

When we become distracted, when we fear the proverbial lion in the street, when we are too lazy or fearful to be about the work, whatever the reason may be, we move away from God's glory.

As I write this, conviction sets in, and it is not entirely pleasant. But that doesn't make it less true.

So what are you pursuing?

First of all, is it in line with Scripture and wisdom? If so, then what is distracting you? Are you doing it unto the Lord?

It could be a plethora of pursuits: your job, your relationships, your health, your ministry, your church, or any other gift from God.

In other words, we are stewards of what God has given us, and may He help us steward those things well as we imperfectly follow His lead.
